Remedy is New Apple’s 2017 Solo Medallist in Fantasy!

I am really pleased to announce that Remedy, book three in The Forgotten Legacies series, has been chosen as the Solo Medallist in Fantasy for the New Apple Book awards 2017!

I found out on the 15th February and I’ve been grinning ever since. To my shame it has Remedy Book Cover with lightingtaken me this long to announce it.

Last year was such an amazing year for my writing, Darrienia was a semi-finalist in the Kindle Book awards, The Severaine received a Readers Favorite 2017 award for dystopian fiction, was a finalist in the Independent Author Network book for the year awards for two categories, fantasy and action/adventure, and was an Official Selection in the New Apple Awards, and now Remedy has joined the award winning ranks as the Solo Medallist for fantasy in the New Apple Award for Excellence.

I honestly can’t even begin to express how amazing it feels. When I first started writing I never dreamt I would receive an award, and now, if you include the 2016 Independent Author book of the year award for ‘Outstanding Fantasy’, Darrienia received, I have won a staggering five, not to mention that each book in the series has been awarded 5 Stars by Readers’ Favorite, I’m really blown away, and honoured, by it all.

I really want to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported and encouraged me. I am grateful to all of you, my followers, readers, friends, and family. Without you I would never have had the confidence to see this through.

On that note, I am currently revising the final book in the Forgotten Legacies series tetralogy, which is aimed for release in early 2019. It’s a larger undertaking than I initially anticipated since I decided I could do better and scrapped everything after the first few chapters. I really hope that I can continue to live up to the promise I made when I released my first book. Thank you all again, your continued support and encouragement humbles me.

Remedy, insight and information.

September 1st is quickly approaching and that can only mean one thing, the next book in The Forgotten Legacies series will soon be out.

Instead of bombarding you with several posts containing cover work and promotional images, I thought I would condense it all into one. Although I do have some more amazing pictures on the way, and a fantastic trailer, I’m not ready to release them yet, but I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

Like all the books preceding it, Remedy will read as a stand alone story, and will also be donating  10% of the author royalties to The DMWS. You’ll see their donate button on the side of my page, feel free to stop by and show the real heroes your support.

Cover reveal:

This year I have gone for something a little different, a separate cover for eBook and paperback. I am absolutely thrilled with how they have turned out, so I hope you like them too.

Synopsis:

Before there were legends there was war.
Before fables came twisted truth and distorted tales.
Things deemed too dangerous were sealed, and bound for all eternity.
Or so it was believed.

Whispers from an ancient realm threaten the peace, drawing a lone adventurer into The Depths of Acheron.
He seeks something from within this sealed domain, and those banished want something in return.
Something belonging to them.

There was a prophecy forged of rebirth and death.
But knowing what is to come can change what will be.
And there is one who seeks to do just that.
He intends to use every tool at his disposal, every distraction and manipulation, to ensure the future will be his.

The time has come for the forgotten to be unveiled, and for the sealed to be unbound. Only then will the world know true fear.

If you like the look of Remedy, it is now avialable for pre-order

Like my other titles, it will also be free on Kindle Unlimited.

As a KU subscriber myself, I often lean towards reading KU titles, so I hope if you’re a subscriber this will tempt you too.

What’s next?

For my die hard fans out there, be warned, the final book in the series is not expected to be released until September 2019, but as the finale, you can bet everything that has occurred throughout the series comes in one glorious climax. Fear not, it is already written, but needs to undergo extensive revisions. After that, you can look forward to the series prequel, The Grimoire, which will be released as a stand alone, single book.

Last but not least:

I want to take this opportunity to thank you, the reader, and my supporters for being with me on this amazing journey. Writing has always been my dream, and thanks to your support it has been a successful one. I am honoured and humbled that you have chosen to read my work, and you will always have my heart-felt thanks.

Wishing you all an amazing day!

Happy Holidays and self promotion

Hi everyone.

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas advent. Out of the 100+ books I have read this year it was really difficult to narrow my list down to just 24 to recommend.

I hope there has been something to pique your interest, and I just want to say thank you for joining me for my book advent calendar.

Now since Christmas, for me at least, is the time to settle down with a good fantasy, be it film or fiction, I’m going to sneak my book links below, yes, it is a little bit of shameless self promotion tagged onto the end of a thanks, but you’ll forgive me right? After all, I spend most of my time promoting other people’s work 🙂

Darrienia – Will they discover the truth in time? Or will those who should be heroes, become nothing more than the pawns of evil?

51gtaxpsgklSettle down this Christmas with the winner of the IAN 2016 Outstanding Fantasy award.

It is said that the past always returns to haunt you. Yet some forgotten pasts have whispered names and a debt for collection. Dangerous curiosities stir a hidden darkness, one that patiently waits to seize control.

The subtle periphery between dream and reality is in peril and those chosen must face the evil behind this looming disaster. But lurking in the shadows, guiding their hand, lies the true threat and a hidden agenda.

Will they discover the truth in time? Or will those who should be heroes, become nothing more than the pawns of evil?

The Severaine – There are some bonds even death cannot destroy.

Civilisations rise and fall leaving only dust and legend in their wake. Kingdoms were lost, and races forgotten. Across the countless span of time one threat rises, heralding the end41txp5pilql of man’s rule, and laying to waste those who defiled its mistress. It is known as the Severaine, a power that in vengeance could bring even the Gods themselves to their knees. Each era overcame this peril so a new world could rise from the ashes of old. Lost within such wisdom could be the answers our heroes seek, a means to stop the threat before a new cycle is born.

But legends can lie and history can be mistaken.

There is another tale, a fable on the lips of few, it speaks of the means to force this power into submission, and there are those who would seek to bend this devastating might to their will.

Creatures rise, guardians wake, and sometimes even the meddling hands of man can turn divine plans awry. The prophesies of old were reforged by death and whisper now a chilling truth. If this path continues unobstructed there is only one conclusion. The end of man and god alike.

But there are some secrets that should never be uncovered and paths which mortals must fear to tread.

When revenge knows no boundaries there are some bonds even death cannot destroy.

Some amazing 5 star reviews from Readers’ Favorite for The Severaine

The Severaine has received some amazing five star reviews from Readers’ Favorite.I was blown away to see what people have thought.
Here’s a taste of what’s being said;

Reviewed By Christian Sia for Readers’ Favorite

“There are books you pick up, read, savor, and put aside; you forget them and move on to the next. But there are some you read, put down, and they continue to haunt you for a very long time. K.J. Simmill’s The Severaine is the kind that you will read and find it very painful to put down,

The Severaine is beautifully written, fast-paced, with very compelling characters. You’ll find intrigue and betrayal, and a powerful and plot-driven conflict. There is a lot of action to hasten the pulse of the reader’s heart, a lot of beautifully crafted scenes that leave the reader looking forward, anticipating more surprises. I enjoyed the hints of Norse and Greek mythology. This book combines different genres — thriller, dystopian, and fantasy — to weave a spell that will have readers entranced as they leaf rapidly through the pages. This is one of the stories I would love to watch on screen, a very entertaining read.”

“It is in dire times that heroes are made and Daniel is one such hero, a character that readers will fall in love and suffer with. He is a man with his own woes, but very keen on the sense of good and justice. Once again, here is a monumental struggle between the forces of good and evil and K.J. Simmill demonstrates a great skill in characterization and plot, with each page laced with surprising twists to arrest the attention of readers and have them turning the pages. As one reads this beautiful and impassioned, gritty story, it becomes even harder not to imagine it being played out on the big screen. The prose is elegant and highly descriptive, conjuring up images that will stay in readers’ minds for a very long time. It was a delight reading The Severaine.”

Reviewed By Divine Zape for Readers’ Favorite

“The Severaine features many powerful themes and the most dominant one is the clash of evil against good and the author explores how the human mind can be twisted to want to use a dark power for very personal and egotistical ends. The author demonstrates great knowledge of ancient mythology, featuring entities like Zeus and creating a universe where evil and God co-exist. The evil power in this narrative will remind some readers of the magical Ring in the Lord of the Rings. Besides creating a very powerful conflict, the author also creates heroes who are so human, flawed, but guided by something beyond themselves — a deep sense of justice and the will to fight for what they believe in. K.J. Simmill’s book is the kind that you read and then pick up again to read.”

Reviewed By Arya Fomonyuy for Readers’ Favorite

“K.J. Simmill starts the narrative with powerful descriptions, drawing the reader in by introducing the conflict, first in the minds of the characters and, not so long from there, the reader is swept off their feet and pulled into a world of intense action. The story is well paced and the author has the uncanny skill of building tension in readers with well-crafted scenes that leave them longing to know what follows after. The language is impeccably good. What I enjoyed about the writing is that the author doesn’t shy away from telling and, although this is book two in the series, readers are not bogged down with unnecessary backstory. The Severaine is a masterpiece and I won’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a great read. Great writing, plot, and characters.”

Reviewed By Ruffina Oserio for Readers’ Favorite

“There is a lot I loved about K.J. Simmill’s writing. The first is the powerful cast of characters. Then there is the great writing with descriptions that are compelling and that draw the reader in irresistibly. It is interesting to see how the author pays attention to details without sacrificing the pace. The reader is introduced to the conflict right at the start, and the hook comes across forcefully when the author presents the monster and its thirst. Then there is also the personality of Daniel, a man plagued with dreams and visions of a bleak future. I enjoyed that K.J. Simmill’s characters are very human, that they know fear, that each has something to worry about. For instance, Daniel “feared the night more than his death. Death was an end, a release, and through it he would find peace. But to sleep was to invite dreams.” The Severaine is huge entertainment.”
