Disappearing Amazon Reviews

Not my precious, precious reviews!

I’ve lost three reviews since last week. One day I checked my Amazon page and saw that Infinite Sacrifice went from thirty-two reviews to thirty-one reviews.

This has never happened before and so, I go to where I always go for self-publishing news and advice: the Kindle Boards Forum.

And sure enough, there was already a post up about disappearing Amazon reviews. The person who posted claimed to have lost four reviews and other authors continued the thread reporting their losses and ideas why this would happen.

The theories:

1) Paid review
2) Reviews made from the same IP address as one with financial interest in the book
3) You gave a reviewer a gift card to purchase your ebook for review (considered as compensation). Even if the reviewer didn’t receive their ebook in this way from you, they might have received one from…

Coming to an end.

I have just finished scheduling the last of my newsletters and memos for

It seems these will take us up to almost the end of May, I will now have to look through the other Villains4u folders to see if I can find anything else I wrote back then that may be fun to share, I am sure there is a lot.

Even now while copying and pasting the old documents, I found myself chuckling at some of them, I am really glad I decided not to try rewriting them, they kindled such fond memories.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Take care

been a while

Gosh has it really been that long since I have posted here?

Well a belated happy Christmas and new year to all.  I have been really busy editing and reading of late.  I have found a book that has skyrocketed to the top of my favourite list so at some point in the future I may try to do a quick review here.

We had a wonderful Christmas, my little man enjoyed being the centre of attention, he was more interested in the people than the presents.  It is nice to have Christmas dinner with the family.   It really was a wonderful day.

Today I took him to sing and sign for his first class.  He surprised me by being really happy near the other children, last time he was near a little girl he wouldn’t stop crying. He loves the ladies but has never been happy with young children.  It was a really good class and since we already had the dvds I knew a lot of the songs and signs 🙂

Hope you are all well, have a great week.

The past

For some reason these last few weeks I have found myself thinking over my past a lot.

More specifically after I met my husband, we spent a lot of time doing really nice things for people and expecting nothing in return. I was remembering when we made food and set up a surprise picnic in the park for one of my husband’s friend’s girlfriend’s 21st birthday.  Her boyfriend at the time admitted her couldn’t be bothered to do anything, so we offered to do this, money was in very short supply at the time but we spent what little we had to get her flowers and make the picnic special and waiting until just before they arrived to ensure no one would ruin it before they got there.  The sad thing was, that the young man we did this for then went and criticised us to his other friends, telling them there was clearly something wrong with us because we would go out of our way to do nice things, and make things special for others.  At this point I like to note that we never took any credit for our deeds either, we never discussed them.  We once did a lot of things like this for people, yet as we became older it seemed the opinion when not in our presence was the same.  So eventually we stopped, it’s a shame because people often complain that people are thoughtless these days, yet when they go out of their way to do nice things, they are criticised.

We still try to do nice things for people, but generally we are more selective, I still buy the big issue seller a hot drink when he is out in the cold, and try to help those in need, I often find the people that have are less grateful of even a small gesture than those who have nothing, yet it is those that have that complain when people don’t do nice things for them.

They were my musings, since it had been a while I thought I would share them.  I have nothing to report on the book front, I am advised it will be 6-8 weeks before I hear anything about my full manuscript.  In the meantime I have received another rejection stating although my work had obvious strengths and merit they did not feel it was right for them.

There was something else from my past I wanted to write about, unfortunately for the moment it escapes me.  Hope you all have a great week.

More Halloween

Hi all, I hope you had a fantastic Halloween.

As promised here are the other photos, 2 of the pumpkin ideas came from the carving pumpkins website of which I am a member.  I used a stencil for parts of the witch and free handed the trees, I was really pleased with it because it looks a lot like the original image.  The scarecrow was so fiddly I free handed it by drawing on the pumpkin.  I made a few mistakes and accidently added some pumpkins on the bottom left side, use your imagination, I am sure you will spot them.  We did the mummy’s duck as my little boy loves ducks, he quacked at it when he saw it too.  We were thinking of doing the squawking dead or poultrygeist   but I think he’s a little too young to understand.

Hi all, I meant to share these earlier but things have been so busy this is the first chance I have had.

As a birthday treat on the 27th October we put up the Halloween decorations.  Halloween really is my favourite time of the year, as such we put a lot of effort into making it special for all the little children that call upon us, living between a number of infant school this is a fair number.  We save up a little bit throughout the year and this year we are very lucky because we managed to get a new addition to our Halloween decoration family.

I was referred to yesterday as a Halloween elf whilst I bagged up the candy.  Normally we make up little coffin boxes, this year however we have gone for party bags and they overtook the room a little.  Tonight the pumpkin carving will commence, I will add the photos when I get a chance.

Enjoy the photos and have a wonderful Halloween.

Autumn is here

There is a definite chill in the air now, the leaves have that wonderful red orange blaze and I could even see my breath this morning, it is time to bundle up.

I notice these things more as I try to take my son to the park at least a few times a week, each time I go new colours line the paths and trees, it’s a beautiful park and I love taking a short walk around it.  It has a lovely little lake, with a nice walk around and of course a play area.  I took a few photos last time I was there, I thought I would share them

Please excuse the finger over one of them, at the time of taking these my phone screen was on the brink of dying, sadly it has now left us and the black screen of death has made my phone useless.  I am going to try taking it apart later, it is out of warrantee and I could get a new phone for the cost of fixing it, so I will have a go at repairing it myself.

I must be honest I love autumn, although my favourite season is winter.  Every year we have snow without fail I will build a snowman, even if there is less than an inch I will scrape some together and make a mini one.  I am hoping for a lot this year, I can’t wait to see what my little man thinks of it.

Halloween preparations are underway now, it is just a matter of deciding which pumpkins to do this year.  My son’s costume has arrived, he is crawling properly now so I got him a spider one that has legs sticking out of the side, that way when he’s crawling he’ll look like a spider.  I have whittled my choice down to two so far, nothing fancy though.

Anyway, I really should be doing some editing, my second book has been sadly neglected this week, I feel as if I have not done anything with it.

Hope you all have a great day, thanks for stopping by.
